  • The Specialty Committee of Gynecology (SCG)

The World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS)

The WFCMS is an international academic organization with its headquarters located in Beijing. It currently has 195 Chinese medicine societies in 57 countries and regions. The establishment of specialty committees has become one of WFCMS’s most important issues. Up to now, 31 specialty committees have already been registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs in China, one of which is the Specialty of Gynecology Committee. This is an active organization that is committed to the continuing education and transference of information in relation to gynecological studies in Chinese medicine.

WFCMS is devoted to promoting understanding and cooperation among the academic groups of Chinese medicine all over the world, and also increasing international academic exchange, improving qualifications for Chinese medicine, protecting and developing Chinese medicine, working to have Chinese medicine recognized as a mainstream medical system in different countries, promoting the exchange and cooperation of Chinese medicine and other medicines around the world and, therefore, making greater contributions to the health of mankind.

The main tasks of the organization are two-fold: first, to help create and publicize international standards relating to Chinese medicine, thereby, carrying out international certification and promoting the healthy development of Chinese medicine worldwide; and second, to conduct various academic activities for the purpose of promoting international exchange and cooperation among the societies of Chinese medicine. This is done through international conferences, the first of which was held in Beijing in 2004. It has since been held yearly all over the world, including Toronto in 2006 when it was hosted by the Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
