HPV: An Integrative Approach

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in North America today.  With over 100 different strains and many presentations, from genital warts to cervical dysplasia (a precancerous condition of the cervix), it is the leading cause of cervical cancer in our healthcare system.  HPV is also relatively new in Chinese Medicine and not many texts have much information.  Join us to learn about Chinese Medicine and HPV according to the most up to date research from China. The lecture will focus on integrating western and Chinese Medicine, highlighting herbs to boost the immune system and reduce the risk of infection as well as herbs that specifically treat this virus.

Making Honeyballs

Honeyballs are a very traditional form of TCM herbal administration.  Sometimes certain conditions or diseases call for a different type of treatment form.  Herbal decoctions are often used in acute conditions and can be difficult for some constitutions to easily metabolize.  Honeyballs on the other hand, are generally used in chronic conditions.  They can treat excess conditions, deficient conditions or conditions that are complicated by excess and deficiency together.  The effects of honeyballs are milder and generally have more of a prolonged effect.  They are easy to administer, especially in cases that have prolonged treatment schedule.  Compared to patent medicines, honeyballs can be easily modified and individualized.  Join us for a seminar and demonstration!
